How we teach English Language
AQA English Language (8700) — offered here as our IGCSE-level English Language course — develops two linked abilities: reading unseen texts with insight, and writing with clarity, accuracy and impact. Assessed through two written papers, it rewards skill far more than memorised content, and our teaching focuses squarely on building that skill.
Students learn to analyse how writers use language and structure to create effects across fiction and non-fiction, and to craft their own descriptive, narrative and persuasive writing to a high standard. We practise the close-reading techniques and the disciplined, well-organised composition the papers demand, with technical accuracy treated as something to be trained, not assumed.
Classes are live and small, with the close feedback on reading responses and written work that drives steady improvement.
