How we teach English Language
Cambridge A Level English Language (9093) treats language as something to analyse, not just use — examining how texts create meaning, how language varies and changes, and how it shapes identity and power. Our teaching builds both the analytical vocabulary and the writing craft the course demands.
Students develop close analytical skills across a range of text types, study language change, acquisition and the relationship between language and society, and produce their own writing for different purposes and audiences. The assessment spans structured analysis and directed writing across AS and A2, so we practise dissecting unseen texts with precision and crafting controlled, purposeful prose of their own.
Classes are live and small, with detailed feedback on both analytical essays and original writing.
